There's a goat!
Recently, myself and another girl have taken up walking in the morning before breakfast. We usually have about an hour to wander around, up and down the hill right next to us and can stop for tea at the end just before we head to breakfast. The thing is though, there are monkeys. These monkeys are not cute like Curious George and do not sing inspirational songs like Tarzan's mother....They're mean, ugly, and when they squawk it sounds like there is some serious business going down. One morning, we headed up the hill further into the clouds. It was so fresh and green. To my horror when we got to the top of the hill there was a giant pack of monkeys in front of us. Solution? Go the other way. We turn around and...there are more monkeys behind us. We are trapped. From what I know about these monkeys, you can't just pass them, they'll come to youu. After waiting for a car or something to come and scare them away, a motorcycle came. Unfortunately, it didn't scare them away. Soooooo we stood there for a good while waiting for them to leave and trying to figure out how on earth we were going to get by them. Thankfully, there was a small foot path between the main paths. It was small, dirt, and rocky but with a little tip-towing, and avoiding eye contact with these things, we made it to the top! We enjoyed a well deserved cup of chai at the end of our walk :)

Dinner at a friends house- apparently Korean people eat roasted squid like beef jerky? It's SO tasty!
Some highlights that have happened this week revolve around an unexpected invitation to a church and some small groups affiliated with them. IT WAS AWESOME. One of the Bible studies was a youth group and man, it was so cool to meet some of the youth here who have given their lives to Christ. It was such a blessing and was just a blast to go to. I forgot how fun youth group games are haha. Later I attended another Bible study for the church leadership as well as their church service- what an amazing group of people. So friendly and so genuine. Does it matter if you can't speak Hindi? Nope. I could see and feel the love of Christ in the congregation. They walked up to me and said hi. They prayed for me, I prayed for them. The time limit of the service didn't stop people from staying well after and continuing to fellowship and pray for one another. It ended up being about 5 hours, but honestly felt probably like 2. It was such an encouragement.
Specifically I met a lady, I'll call Sandra. She exudes Christ's love and is one of the sweetest women I've ever met. So genuine. So kind. We had a chance to chat about her life and some of the struggles that she'd recently been going through- her husband had been transferred to another city for work and has left her and her two children here by themselves. She feels the burden to care for her children. She feels scared. We prayed and the next day I went to visit and encourage her again. It was such a cool opportunity to reach out to someone who just needs some support, and even be supported in return.

Scrubs version of salwar kameez? Awesome.
In other more medically-news, I've been enjoying the opportunities to do more things in the hospital; removing stitches, assisting in surgeries, sitting in on patient appointments and going to do rounds with the attending physicians. My highlight this week was when I got to assist on a tubal ligation! I got to suture and cut the tubes and all that fun stuff!
Most embarrassing moment so far? I was in the OR, assisting the surgeon. It was so hot and all of a sudden I found myself flush, sweating, and feeling like I was going to fall over. Thankfully I got myself to the side leaning against the wall and soon in the arms of the staff who had to assist me out of the OR. Dang pre-syncope. That's a first for me! For the rest of the day I think every single person asked me if I was alright. haha Whatttt can you do :/
